My neighbor runs a little wedding chapel and this is her busy time of year. She has weddings booked all summer and well into winter. It’s a lovely tiny church that she renovated and it is used exclusively for weddings now.
She was telling me about some of the cool things she is seeing by the brides who have great imagination for all the different components of a wedding. The wedding last night was unusual in several ways. One of the things that I found interesting was the use of chocolate. She had a chocolate fountain, chocolate cake and even gave chocolate wedding favors to the bridal party and guests.
As long as it was good quality chocolate, like Gertrude Hawks chocolates, that was quite an extravagance and I’m sure the guests were thrilled.

My goals for this year:
Work like you don’t need the money,
Love like you’ve never been hurt, and
Dance like nobody’s watching.
This is going to be hard to accomplish but I am willing to work for them. I would like to get to that place.

For fun I will take a peak at my horoscope each day. Sometimes the relevance to what happens in my life is totally uncanny. Other times it seems far removed from my reality. But I always wonder if my destiny had been for the prediction that missed the mark and I perhaps chose a route that circumvented it. Perhaps I even did that deliberately, to test the heavens.
Frankly, horoscopes are to be for entertainment purposes and I know a great site that lets you have your amusement with their astrology predictions. Some people have studied the zodiac and place great faith in the daily and monthly predictions. I have been following mine for several months and am always amazed at the sincerity of each prediction and the promise of good things to come.

At the end of most driveways in my neighborhood, you will find the little blue and white ADT sign on a stake by the mailbox, indicating that home is protected by an ADT Alarm System. We have never had a serious crime occur anywhere with blocks of my house, knock on wood. But I think a large part of that is because we are an older, established neighborhood and we all take precautions to protect our homes and possessions.
I’m sure every one of my neighbors locks their doors and windows at night. Most park their vehicles inside their garage, and have floodlights mounted on the corners of their houses.
When I first moved in, I had to learn about home alarms and I asked around with my neighbors to see which company they were using. Most of them use ADT Security Systems, as I can tell from the signs at the end of their driveways. With this many blue and white signs throughout the neighborhood, it’s a silent testament to the effectiveness and trust placed in ADT. And I’m sure it is a good warning to the criminals looking for an easy place to break in, that these homes are protected and not as easy as they might find someplace else.

Most days when I leave the house I head south and get onto the interstate as quickly as possible. The interstate is most definitely the fastest way to get around town, unless it is smack in the middle of rush hour or if there is a wreck.
On the way to the interstate I pass three gas stations and usually their price per gallon is reasonable, compared to other gas stations around town. But I always check and if gas is cheaper at the Stewart’s Ferry exit, I’ll head north from the house and get my gas at Thorntons.
This morning I knew that Thornton’s was 12 cents a gallon cheaper than everyone else, so I headed north and drove through the neighborhood. I was shocked to see that two blocks away from my house there had been a string of vandalism attacks last night. Someone had driven through the neighborhood shooting orange paintballs at all the cars parked along the street.
I have to assume this was done by teenagers with no parental supervision and nothing better to do than drive around shooting at cars with a paintball gun. I guess we should be glad that they were not real bullets shot from a real gun. If that every happened we would have to take up arms and fight back against the little bastards coming into our neighborhood.
